Boston’s beauty queens are raving about this hair-free revolution. Ready to join?

Who hasn’t winced at the sting of waxing or cursed a missed patch after shaving? Getting rid of unwanted hair is often fraught with nicks, pain, and inconsistent results. Many of us have tales of woe involving rashes, in-grown hairs, and that moment when the hot wax is just a tad too hot. It’s no surprise that women (and men) often express frustration and exasperation over their traditional hair removal routines.

But what if we told you that there’s a method that offers a longer-lasting, almost permanent solution? No more weekly shaving or monthly waxing. You can do so with laser hair removal.

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a laser to remove unwanted hair. Unlike the temporary solutions of shaving or waxing, laser hair removal targets the follicles at their root. This slows down and even permanently stops hair growth in the treated areas.

At Laser MD Medspa, we use the gold standard for laser hair removal – the Candela GentleMax Pro. We can use this machine to eliminate all unwanted hair from multiple areas of the body, including the:

  • face
  • neck
  • shoulders
  • underarms
  • arms
  • chest
  • back
  • stomach
  • bikini zone
  • leg

How does it work?

Laser hair removal is precise, targeting only the hair follicles and sparing the surrounding skin. By focusing exclusively on the follicles, it ensures unwanted hairs are addressed without causing undue stress or damage to the skin.

Once damaged, the hair follicles can no longer produce hair, or at least not as thick and quickly as before. Over several sessions, the hair in the treated area becomes finer, lighter, and eventually might disappear altogether.

What can I expect during my laser hair removal treatment?

The treatment starts with a consultation. One of our highly trained specialists will evaluate your skin and hair type to determine the most effective approach for you. You might be asked to avoid sun exposure and certain medications before the treatment.

On the day, the area to be treated is cleansed, and you’ll be given special protective eyewear. Your aesthetician will then adjust the laser settings based on your specific requirements. A cooling gel is often applied to the skin to help the laser glide smoothly and mitigate any discomfort you might feel. The actual procedure feels like a series of quick, small stings as the laser pulses over the area.
