Kybella is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment that was developed to target the fat below the chin specifically. Kybella helps your body break down and naturally eliminates unwanted submental fat. The treatment dissolves away unwanted excess fat cells, which are then permanently removed via the body’s waste processes.
How Does Kybella Work?
After it is injected, Kybella begins to deal with pockets of fat that lie below the surface of the skin. The key ingredient is a naturally occurring substance in the human body called deoxycholic acid. Your body uses this chemical to break down fat cells.
When Kybella is injected into the submental area, it begins breaking down the fat cells until they are destroyed. The absence of these fat cells means that they will not return and grow again, allowing the area to stay contoured.
How Do You Prepare For A Kybella Treatment?
During a consultation at Laser MD Medspa, a skilled medical professional will plan your Kybella treatment. First, however, they will examine your neck and chin region to find out whether you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.
As part of this evaluation, your medical history will be discussed, including any cosmetic procedures that have been performed previously on your face, neck, and chin. Any allergies will also be discussed.
Your doctor will then create a treatment plan that is right for you in order to treat the amount of fat present under your chin and achieve your aesthetic goals.
What Happens During A Kybella Treatment?
Each Kybella treatment session involves multiple small injections. First, your doctor will use a template and marker to identify the injection sites carefully. This helps in ensuring that Kybella is injected specifically in the target areas and doesn’t get injected into the other nerves and muscles present in your jaw.
A topical numbing anesthetic is administered by your doctor to avoid discomfort during the procedure. Kybella is then injected directly into the skin under your chin. The Kybella procedure lasts about 15 to 20 minutes.
The fat begins to dissolve within 15 to 30 minutes or sometimes even sooner. Your doctor will determine the number of injections that you require and the number of sessions required to fully achieve your aesthetic goals. It is a minimally invasive treatment, so there is no downtime required after the procedure. You may notice swelling in the area due to your body’s inflammatory process.
